It’s true I’m a nurse. But that’s not the whole Story of Me.

I started my career in non-profit PR in 1989 and have produced literally hundreds of articles, press release and marketing materials over the years. Along the way, I picked up a BA in Creative Writing and started freelancing full-time. Beyond health and wellness topics, I’ve written extensively about art and antiques, collectibles, and personal finance.

And then I decided to pursue a lifelong dream. I went to nursing school. I graduated with honors from a four-year university program.

After several years of clinical practice, I scaled back my nursing career to care for my dad as he declined and died from dementia. At that time, the opportunity to blog about the experience for Caring.com presented itself, and I got back into writing. In fact, my blog “Dad Has Dementia” won a 2010 Online Journalism Award (under the pseudonym ‘Elizabeth Shean’).

That award spurred me to combine my two passions and go back to freelancing as a full-time content marketing writer in the health and medical sphere.

But I’m not all work and no play. In 2011, I played a nurse on an episode of the hit TV drama ‘In Plain Sight,’ which filmed in my then-hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Better yet, they called me back to perform in a different episode as a body double — for a guy! Seriously fun stuff.

And that’s the Story of Beth. What’s your story? I’d love to help you tell it.
